Caminito

The inspiration for our Caminito collection was provided by the reclaiming of a landfill site in the La Boca area of Buenos Aires in 1954. The area had previously witnessed the birth of the joyous, melodramatic music of the famous Argentinian tango. An artist, Benito Quinquela Martin, restored the derelict alley which had been a stream before being converted to a railway track and subsequently abandoned to landfill. He painted the houses in bright pastel colours and turned Caminito into a street museum and bustling artisan area.
